The ECCS (English) Distinctive: ARISE
Dictionary definition: a·rise (ə-rīz′)
1. To get up, as from a sitting or prone position; rise.
2. To awaken and get up: arose at dawn.
3. To move upward; ascend.
4. To come into being; originate: hoped that a new spirit of freedom was arising.
Indeed, ECCS strives to be on the move, not static; to be a church that is alive, ever striving on the upward path, with a new freedom amongst members and correcting myths and entrenched traditions about the church of God.
A = Agility to change quickly. Not hierarchical. Not program-driven
We care about people, not programs. Hence the pastoral team is hands-on with all the ministries. After all, the shepherd knows all the sheep. No huge buildings either. The church is the people, not buildings. That’s why we rent our Sunday meeting halls and free up more resources for people-ministries.
R = Responsiveness to needs. Caring community
We exercise a strong prayer and caring ministry where the members are spontaneous about caring and sharing with one another. We seek to rediscover the community of God amongst those who seek Him. We seek community, not committees. We seek the heart
I = Innovative & spontaneous
Not just what the pastor says; we rely on the innovative and spontaneity of our entire community to plan new initiatives to reach out to others.
S = Speed to implement
No committees. No programs. No slogans. The Great Commission is our clarion call. We rely on God to empower and open doors for us for all aspects of our ministry. We see the need and we respond. We have achieved much for a small congregation and we continue to look to God for many more opportunities.
E = Empowered by God’s Spirit. Spiritual gifts
Not the last point but the most important point. Most churches are needs-based ministries, often slotting in members ill-equipped for the ministry, resulting in spiritual burn-outs. We identify the spiritual giftings that God has empowered you and allow you to develop and grow your ministry at your own pace, maturity and readiness.
